Pentax K-3 F-- error

I purchased my first Pentax camera, a Spotmatic, back in the 70's, that served me for decades until film became, mostly, obsolete. I have recently purchased a K-3 and I have a flashing F-- error message that is not allowing me to take photos. I may have, inadvertently, changed a setting when scrolling through menu options to familiarize myself with functions. This camera is WAY smarter than I am. Any assistance would be welcome. Thanks.

K-3 F-- error

Thanks, for your help. I had already viewed your video, but the menu options on my K-3 is quite a bit different from your Pentax camera. After viewing it again I was able to, finally, find the right setting option. I appreciate your help. I had attempted to use an old K mount lens, got that error, refitted my new lens and still had that error message and was unable to activate the shutter. Now I'll go back and fit some of my many classic lenses, including some old screw mounts with an adapter, and see if I can't get them shooting. Thanks, again.

Welcome to the forums! The link Parallax posted should help you out. There are certain menu options you need to change to make manual lenses work properly.

It's well worth the effort, though!

Thanks for the welcome and taking the time to respond. After viewing the Parallax video I was able to stumble through my menu options to resolve my issue.

I don't have a K-3, so I couldn't give you a step-by-step. I'm surprised this isn't covered in the manual.

I'm surprised it is still a required process.

It may very well be in the manual, however, in searching for the F-- error message I could not find anything. Your video helped point me in the right direction even though the menu options for the K-3 are considerably different. In reviewing the manual further I have found a section titled Aperture Ring that also has helpful information. Thanks for taking the time to make your video. It is appreciated.

Well, I can't take credit for the video. My only contribution was to post the link here, but im glad you resolved the issue.
