Introduction

Hello,
Very happy to find this thread of fellow Pentax enthusiasts. I live in Los Angeles and I am university professor. I recently dusted off my Pentax K10D and have some questions about upgrading it. Not sure if this is the place to post it but I'm going to and let's see what happens.

I have been considering purchasing a new lens for my camera and spending around $600 for a telephoto lens DA 270. Today I saw advertised a K50 with DA L 18-55 and 50-200 WR lenses for $699. Wondering if I should upgrade to k-50 or keep the k10 and invest in a $600 DA 270 lens. Any suggestions are appreciated. Best, Ivor

Welcome aboard! I'd go ahead and step up to a K-50. It's a much more modern camera with a newer sensor that's generations ahead in terms of image quality, so it will allow you to get the most out of your current lenses

The 18-270mm isn't a star performer, so I wouldn't recommend it. The general rule of thumb is having a good lens on a bad camera is better than a bad lens on a good camera.

The K50 with 18-135 is worth considering. Or just the body and keep an eye on the Marketplace for deals on used lenses.

+1 on what Ter-or said. You will find lots of good used lenses here on the marketplace.
Oh, and please forgive me, welcome to the forum!

Welcome, not liking the sound of this question as to keeping stuff, of course you should keep it all and just add more.

Hello,
Need some advice. I dropped my K-10 yesterday. The camera is working without the lens, but when the lens is on, it gives me a flashing 9s (4) and the camera will not work. Time for a new camera or easily repaired? Thanks so much, Ivor
