Hello from the birthplace of Takumars

Hi, everybody. As you can tell, I'm new here. I've been using Pentax DSLRs for some time and have read many informative a thread on this forum. Finally, I decided to take the dive and become a member.

I'm by no means an experienced Pentax or Takumar user. I'm here to learn and then pass on the information to new members when the occasion arises.

Hats off to all the veterans here who love these cameras and lenses and educate newcomers like me. I do hope that some day I can also educate others.

Thanks for the encouraging words. I'm not here to show off my photos, for I have really nothing worth showing off.

I wonder if you guys had any experience with ist-DS, which now some might consider outdated. Well, I'm still using mine. I shoot exclusively in manual mode and use a variety of lenses from the original Takumars to the SMC's. It's in working condition and well pampered. It has around 22,000 shutter counts on the clock. The dial next to the AE-L button is starting to act up. I mean it spins but doesn't change the values or spins two stops to change one value. Any ideas on how to fix this? The Pentax folks in Tokyo refused repair pointing to its being "outdated." Well, I never... Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
