Hello from Pentavic....Quebec, Canada

I've been a PENTAXIAN for over 30 years and now own a Pentax K-r DSLR along with older Pentax 35 mm cameras that still work impecably well today. Having travelled to many Canadian and US Cities I am appalled as to how few, almost negligeable, camera stores carry PENTAX and far less any RICOH models. In fact in these stores It's only about NIKON, CANON, SONY......all the camera models immaginable, accessories by the tons, and Customer/Company SUPPORT in the form of ADVERTISING and in-store presentations,forums. Everywhere for these brands attack you at the door, like the world was coming to an end for these manufacturers. Yet quickly browsing around these shops there is virtually nothing about PENTAX, no cameras, of course no accessories and yes even NO ADVERTISING, complete nothing. Yet interestingly most SALESPERSONS I've spoken to KNOW QUITE A LOT ABOUT THE PENTAX CAMERAS but don't carry them.....YOU WANNA KNOW WHY ???

90% of these Salespersons would love to add PENTAX to their line but CAN'T GET THE COMPANY TO SUPPLY THEM ADEQUATELY. They mostly say how difficult it is hard to deal with PENTAX/RICOH. Company demands are ridiculous, prices too high and support is virtually non-existant for a company the size of RICOH. In Europe and Asia however the ball seems to be in the other court. Would be nice to see the RICOH POWER finally decide to invest some serious money in ADVERTISING the PENTAX and RICOH Camera lines and compete with NIKON, CANON, and SONY head-on. They find out that yes, the camera market is big enough in the U.S.A. and Canada for their quality brands and models. RICOH may be surprized that given a fair chance, they could come out as WINNERS for both PENTAX and Ricoh cameras. It is sad to see the PENTAX heritage and customer loyalty just go by the wayside and rather than be competitive players on the team, throw the towel and chose to be the team that was, to the team that isin't anymore. These are my views and it is sad that I can no longer visit camera stores and have fun comparing PENTAX/RICOH to the saturated other brands. Just my views....Thanks

Welcome to the forum, Pentax in camera stores is a rare sight, but the brand is readily available online, as long as you know what you want.
