Hello from Scotland

Hello All,

I've been a lurker here for some time now, since I picked up a K5 some time ago. I used an ME Super before I moved to digital in 2004 with and Olympus E300.

Anyway I feel slightly guilty that I'm only posting now as I am actually thinking of selling my Pentax gear and downsizing from a DSLR to quality point and shoot like the Sony RX100... Perhpaps I could be convinced to keep the K5 but my wife doesn't like using it and I'm not really a hobby photographer - all I want is decent family pictures.

So maybe some items will be appearing on the market place soon. In the meantime I think I'll try and post some of my better Pentax pictures from the last year or so (sadly there won't be many of them).

My kit comprises K5 with kit zoom, 31mm f1.8 and DA 40 Ltd.

Welcome to the forum.

I have a K-7 and my wife dislikes using it. I was able to lure my wife to Pentax with the K-01. She loves the K-01, it is like a P&S on steroid, with same simplicity as a P&S and the IQ is stunning. We can share our lenses, although my wife nowadays stick to the DA18-135mm on her K-01.

There was recently on the marketplace a cute K-01 white and blue! Maybe...for your wife?

Hi hcc, interesting idea but I think the downsizing option will suit us better at the minute, although having said that the RX100 is just an idea at the minute. I might pick one up to see if it suits anyway before selling the Pentax, although I do think that for me the 31mm has been a bit of a white elephant and I had far more fun with the DA40!

Welcome to the forum without any more lurking and always good to welcome a fellow countryman, the marketplace on here should help you move on your unwanted items.

Yes I do hope to make use of the Marketplace to avoid eBay fees.

However with no track record on the forum I wonder if it will be successful.

Still undecided though on whether to sell everything or not though...

Feeling somewhat re-inspired now, having spent the last 2 weeks on holiday using my K5 with 31, 40 and kit zoom constantly and actually getting some results that pleased myself and my wife...

Also the weather sealing on the body and kit zoom proved to be more than adequate for several really wet days in Northern Ireland carrying them outside the case.

So, I don't think I'll be selling up for a compact just yet. However I think I'll replace the 31mm with a DA 21 and DA 70 as I really have most fun with the DA 40 and the lightweight, compact nature is a lot more in keeping with what I want rather than the 31mm. ANy takers for a mint 31mm f1.8?

Oh, with no takers yet, that's sorry to hear and no use at all.
