New Pentax user from Tampa, FL

Hello all,

I am not a pro, but do photography as a hobby. I started with a Canon T2i few years ago, with 2 standard kit lenses. Sold it, and got a Canon T4i. I was never happy with the way my pictures turned out. Finally, after doing a months of research, I bought a Pentax K5-IIs with DA 35mm 2.4 and DA 50mm 1.8. I am excited about my new purchase and hope that I will a Pentax user for life.

Thanks to you all for helping others and reviewing lenses. Appreciate it.

Nice choice on the gear, i was in the same spot a year ago and chose the k30 over the t4i. I am located in kissimmee FL and often go to the Brandon and Sarasota areas. Enjoy your new toy and happy shootings.

Wow, we live so close to each other. What kit have you got now? Are you a full time photographer?

Hello fellow Floridian, from Miami here. I once got lost on the way back from Tampa, through Orlando, down to Miami. My GPS was keen on driving us down south through 441. My wife wasn't too fond of the single lane and with incoming traffic. However, as nervous as she was, I was amazed at all the different wild life around that area with eagles, deer and all kinds of birds just loafing around. Not to mention we were driving back at the golden hour. It was showering the landscape with all kinds of warm light. I wanted to stop right there and then to take pictures, but my wife's nerves prevented me from doing so.

Either way, have fun with the K5 IIs and the primes, you'll enjoy it.

I ended up going Full Frame with a Canon 5D mark ii, a 50mm 1.2 and a 70-200 2.8 lens. I still have my k30 as its my first love. I have a 50 1.7, 100 2.8 macro, 50-125, 17-50 for the k30. I love using both bodies for wedding and parties. Enjoy the forum.

What a great kit to own. Canon 5D Marc II is a nice camera. I wish pentax offered an affordable full frame camera.

Well, you are not far from Tampa to explore it further. I love EverGlades near Miami. It is a photographers paradise.
