Posting at last!

Hello to all

My first post although I've been reading here for years, and been a member for quite some time. I guess that I fall in the 'geriatric' class of Pentax users as I am into my 70s. My first camera as a teenager was a Brownie Starflash, if anyone can remember them. For a simple fixed lens camera, it made a quite reasonable job of transparencies using 127 film. My Pentax affliction began with a used MV in 1979. I still have it and it still takes excellent photos under most conditions, as long as a little foresight is used. My digital Pentax is a 100D Super. In recent years I've assembled a small collection of film cameras of various types, makes and ages from friends, relatives and charity stores, and these are now my main interest.

Pentax Forums is a great source of information and inspiration. I just wish that my photographic abilities matched the abilities of my Pentax cameras...

BTW, I live in Canberra, Australia's national capital.

Welcome! Enjoy the forum and all the friendly Pentaxians here!

Wow - I haven't seen a Brownie Starflash in decades! My parents gave me a Brownie Hawkeye when I was still riding a tricycle - it seems to be holding up better than I am:

G'day Mate good to have you aboard.
I have found some nice cameras and lenses at garage sales, often for less than a cup of coffee.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome.

I mentioned above that my first camera was a Brownie Starflash. Being a compulsive hoarder, I still have it of course. As I said, it made a fair fist of transparencies for what it was. Here are a couple of trannies that I took on my first 'road trip' with my then girlfriend (now my wife of 50 years) western New South Wales. I've given them a bit of a touchup and cropped one but these Ektachromes have survived the passage of 52+ years pretty well. The photos aren't great but the memories are.

Now I just have to upload them...
