That was my one misgiving when I sold the grip. The option to use AA's is a good thing and one of the strong points of both the K-30 and K-50.

I will likely change my mind if I ever have to do any traditional portraiture
As is now, I often shoot vertical rotated right and release the shutter using whatever finger is handy.

I hear you in regards to the K-3 battery life. That characteristic in tandem with the long time to charge is why I am going to order a backup this next week.
