Hi All

I'm a 2nd generation Pentax owner and user. My dad taught me basics with his first Pentax (not sure of the model), then later moved on to his MX. In high school I bought my first - ME Super and happily used for years. Also purchased around 1999-2000 an IQ Zoom (900?). In 2006 bought a K100D which I have also used happily for years. A few years ago I bought an Option RZ10.

This week my new K-500 arrived. Bought this one because it was the most similar to my K100D. The primary reason for the new is that I was having difficulty finding modern lenses that would function in AF mode and I was unable to get any of the Asahi Pentax lenes that my dad and I had shared with our film SLRs. I have been mostly shooting in Auto mode since I bought my K100D and have long since forgotten many of the basics of manual photography. Will be looking to see if there are any photo classes going on in my area to join.

Welcome from an ex socal myself. I had never shot Pentax before switching from film to digital. Used to have Konica. Too bad you can't get a hold of those old lenses. I have been shooting with several and really like the results they give with manual focus.

Here's my lens collection (the old Pentax-M lenses except 1 were purchased years ago and we'll be sharing them):

Pentax-M 1:2 50 mm (came with my ME-Super)
Pentax-DA 1:3.5 - 5.6 18-55 mm (came with my K100D)
Sigma 1:4-5.6 70-300 mm (came with my K100D)
Pentax-DAL 1:3.5-5.6 18-55 mm (K500 kit lens)
Pentax-DA 1:3.5-6.3 18-270 mm

I've also got a Tamron lens (~ 70-125 mm - don't remember) that was bought around 1990 that's packed in some boxes I haven't opened after I moved a few years ago.
