Hello from Perth, Australia

Hello! Thought I'd best introduce myself before opening up any new threads elsewhere in the forum, and to say thank you to everyone who set up this excellent website and those who contribute. I've been dropping in as a guest for the last 9 or so months to read up on various lens reviews and mining for other information.

After deciding to upgrade to DSLR in mid 2013, I did a quick Google search to find the best mid-range DSLRs of 2012; as I intended to pick up a second-hand kit to see whether I enjoyed the change from high end point n' shoot. Reading a Top 10 round-up, among the sea of Nikons and Canons ( which I originally intended to buy ) and a lone Sony stood the K-30. To my shame, as a Gen Y ( poor excuse, I know ) I didn't even know Pentax existed! Since I like multi-day hikes, however, the WR feature and rugged build drew me in, I found this forum, and I now have a K-5 and a collection of lenses that screams directionless LBA. And the weird thing is that I don't own a single WR lens yet; but it's been fun so far!

I've got darn near 100 lenses, and not one of them is WR. My wife has 4 lenses, but 3 of them are WR. Go figure!

Welcome to the Forum. You will note that there are a bunch of active Aussies around.

LBA, LBA, LBA... A lot can be said!

Welcome mate, but a word of advice. You need to reign that LBA in, or else you'll be lusting after 31's and 77's and stars and Limiteds and.......I've got to go, eBay is calling to me.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm afraid that I'm already throwing guilty glances at the 31 Ltd and other high-end glass, but I'm trying to go about it with some form of strategy and intellect; at least that's what I tell myself anyway. I even wrote a list and tried to narrow down what lenses I want. It still turned out to be a pretty long list . . .
