If you care for external audio, the K-3 is your best bet. It's just under $1000 if you sell the free grip/flash/flucard that comes with it (
see here).
However, for considerably less you can get the K-50 (
$421.95), which is a lot better than your K-r when it comes to video. The only issue is that like the K-r, it doesn't support an external mic. You do get full manual controls, on-demand AF, and .MOV files, though.
