Greetings from San Josť, California!

Good day all! Just joined PentaxForums.com this morning after purchasing the Pentax camera body of my youth via an ebay seller, the Asahi Pentax K1000! I am a professional photographer heavily invested in Canon gear, but of late have had a real hankering to dive back into film and could think of no better vehicle to do so than the K1000.

Because it's literally been decades since I've used a fully manual camera like the K1000, I'm curious to know your opinions on a good all-around starter lens since my purchase was body only. Would love your feedback.

I currently provide photographic and documentation services to multiple fire departments. If you're curious, you can see my photography here:

Looking forward to learning from members of the Pentax community. Thanks for your time!

Craig

Howdy Craig, welcome aboard!

>your opinions on a good all-around starter lens<

I like to use on my K1000s:
Zoom: Vivitar Series 1 28-105mm/2.8-3.8
Primes: Pentax SMC(K) 28mm/3.5 and 55mm/1.8

Welcome to the forum, any of the "nifty fifty" manual primes that are about (F1.2, F1.4, F1.7) are just a real joy to use.

Thanks for the suggestions. I did purchase the f1/7 50mm and am looking forward to hitting the streets with it when I get everything setup!

Lens arrived today and K1000 body should be here Monday! Looking forward to taking the combo out in the field and putting it through its paces!
