Hi and welcome to the forum. The last time i visited Canberra was in the 80's. I do remember getting lost and going around in a lot of circles...LOL!!

Anne, that only happens for the first 2 years or so, then you get used to it!

I don't know what pollies do in their spare time, but the powerkiting sounds interesting. When do you do it? How do you get onto the lake bed? Do you switch to boards if Lake George ever fills with water again? (for those who are wondering, the lake is a huge but very shallow and flat lake which has dried up in the continuing drought in this part of the world)
I haven't seen water in Lake George in well over 10 years ... well that from the main highway (is it the Federal that runs along the side of it) ... it's just a massive paddock that stretches as far as the eye can see.

I believe it's rough 15 x 6km in size. I have never seen enough water to kitesurf in it but if it fill sup enough then i am there.

Access is by one of the locked gates. One of the farmers has let us know where the key is hidden and is ok with it being used. I am actually a sydney sider but have kited there a number of times.

Most of the Canberra kiters get out there on weekends. Most meets in ACT are organised here: ACT - Extreme Kites Forums

They are a friendly bunch and would droooooool to have some nice pictures.

let me know if you need any more info.

Here is an old shot form the lake...

Thanks Mike for the info. If I get a spare weekend I might look into it, as it seems a good challenge photographically as well as for the kiters.
