Hi from Canberra

Hi all
I've looked at this site a few times, often for the lens info, so I thought it time to join.
I'm another Australian from Canberra, the nation's capital. A great place to live, though I'm originally from Brisbane - even went to school in Sunnybank, where I see another member lives.

I've used Pentax cameras since buying a K1000 in 1980, also had an ME Super (lost in a rafting trip), and after a long gap I renewed the Pentax friendship with an MZ50n, and now a K100D. Over the last couple of years I've been collecting K, M and A mount lenses and even a couple of M42 mount lenses. I enjoy the results from these great manual focus lenses.

I also own other brands of camera gear but this isn't the place to mention them!

Regards to all

Welcome to the forums.

Post up some photos from your area.
Canberra is a nice place ... if you are visiting.
Not sure if I'd like living there with all of the politicians though.

Are you Kevin Rudd?

Welcome, at any rate.

No, not Kevin - he just followed me down here! We do have lots of politicians in Canberra, but remember we only own 4 of them - the rest are sent here from the rest of the country!

Thanks for the welcomes - when work isn't so busy I'll post some pictures.

Hi Roburg,

Welcome to the forum, it's nice to see another Canberran here but we still have a fair bit of recruiting to do before we match the Melbourians for members.

Cheers,
Mike

If you guys knew how infrequently the politicians are actually here you'd be shocked.

Prostitution, porno, fireworks and pot....... sure you may want to change the composition a bit but are not these the elements of good time...... or are they just the elements of politicians good time?

BTW, I am into powerkiting (huge kites and buggies or boards). There are a number of canberrians that do this in the middle of lake george. Some of you should get out and shoot the action.

cheers

I don't know what pollies do in their spare time, but the powerkiting sounds interesting. When do you do it? How do you get onto the lake bed? Do you switch to boards if Lake George ever fills with water again? (for those who are wondering, the lake is a huge but very shallow and flat lake which has dried up in the continuing drought in this part of the world)
