Amatuer from Pittsburgh Area

I'm Rachel, I've owned my K-5iis for almost a year and I am learning as much as I can about photography! I like newborn and maternity/family sessions the best. I was the second photographer for my first wedding this weekend and I really enjoyed it.

Welcome to the forum! I know Da Burg from visits with my brother, who lives in Mt Lebanon, home of the "Cake Eaters," I've heard. A great town! Love The Strip, and Southside. Dean and I have hit the Vintage Gran Prix several times, great shooting there.

Welcome from the North Hills. K5II shooter here. Pittsburgh has a lot of great locations to shoot. Hope the wedding went well.

Hi, Rachel! There seem to be a fair number of forum members in the Pgh area. We really should arrange a meet up at some point. Hope to see you around PF--it's a great community.

I am struggling- I don't know what lenses I should get first. I shoot mostly portraits but want to break into weddings. I have the Sigma 24-70mm f.2.8 and it pretty much never leaves my K-5. What lenses would you suggest next?
A 50mm, or wide angle?
Open to suggestions!

I'm no wedding photographer, but it seems like they all either have two bodies going, or have assistants (mostly both).

What does your Sigma not give you that you wish you had? The answer to that might guide your decision.

Well, I need a macro lens, at a fixed focal point. I think I want the 50mm...I also would like a telephoto lens.
I know at some point I'll need another camera body, but as a stay at home mom, I'll have to build up to that.

Okay

I'm from pgh I live right across the river in Stowe Twp . Lets try to get together and have a photowalk or something. I shoot with a K-7 and the trusty old K100D.

Welcome Rachel,
Please post some photos taken by your K-5. How do you like the 24-70mm f.2.8 for weddings??

24mm is fairly wide, do you find yourself wanting wider? I suppose it depends on how well the lens performs at 24mm.
