Let me introduce myself.

Hi,

My name is Steve. I am 60 years old and retired from 35 years of government service. Like a lot of other folks who have retired from an active career I found it necessary to come up with a hobby or two both to help pass the time and to keep mentally active. One of those hobbies is photography (digital, I am not ready to try tackling film).

I bought a Sony NEX camera and a couple of lenses and jumped in. After about six months I realized that the camera was too good and I was just practicing high level point and shoot photography. Not that there is anything wrong with that, it just wasn't providing a challenge. Then the inspiration (or the bug) hit. I began working with manual focus legacy lenses. It slowed me down, forcing me to plan out each photo, but it sure got me out of the point and shoot regime.

Now this is where the Pentax forums come into my life. I have absolutely fallen for the old Takumar lenses. They work incredibly well with the NEX digital line. While researching these lenses I came on the Pentax Forums and, after just auditing them for a while I decided I should join.

Welcome aboard! Some of those Taks are really something special. It's amazing how many different ones are out there, five sections of primes in the review section. I would love to see a SMC Takumar 15mm F3.5, and a lot of other rarities!
