Well, hello there

Right off, I must confess that I'm flying a bit under false colors here. I'm not a Pentax user. I'm a Nikon guy and a Fuji X system guy. But I'm really thinking of buying a 645z and thats my reason for joining. I looked at the posts and information while lurking and doing some research and finally just figured I should probably register.

I'm a rather new full time photographer working out of the western Chicago area. I quit my IT career of 38 yrs and a time most think of retiring, I started a business. Its been six months now and I couldn't be happier. I have a small studio, about 1500 sq. ft, but truly I'm on the road shooting at locations almost all the time. I use a D4s, D800 and Df and Nikon lenses from 14-24mm to 200 f/2. And my APS-C Fuji X-T1, X-Pro1 and X100 plus about 7 lenses. While I like the D800 and its 36 MP, I have always liked the 645D so when the Z model was introduced, I got a bit giddy. The D model just needed a bit more ISO range for me, and the extra pixels don't hurt but what I really look at is the dynamic range and ISO since they are tied together. For the larger format I love the possibility of the 645z's DR.

I shoot almost anything right now, but seem to be focusing on bicycling racing, music, documentary, a few weddings and other events, and a sprinkling of pet portraiture (which I NEVER thought about before) and some model and agency work. I hope to narrow that down once I get a bit more "fame". I'm starting to branch into video. Just too many requests so I have to give it some attention.

Thats it. I hope to hang around and hope to be joining the ranks. I'm probably going to rent the 645z and a few pieces of glass first but I may be asking a lot of questions. I hope you all don't mind.

Wally

Welcome aboard, and thanks for the intro! As long as you don't mind the odd jab at Nikon (but more often at Canon) we'll be happy to have you around.
