Yes I'm a new user an Austrlian Bushie

Yes I've just discovered the Forum, I enjoy my Bushland Photography I am a nature photographer, my main subjects are Wild flower, Insect, Macro and bird work which I've just got into, I am looking at present for a long lens to do Bird work with, my current consideration is the Sigma 150 x 500 or the Tamron 150 x 600, has any body got any user experience with either of these or other lenses of a similar description.

Where in Aus are you located?
You will find lots of info on this site and it has the friendliest Pentaxians.
Hope you will share some of your images with us.
Will leave the lens question to someone more qualified.

Welcome to the forum!

I don't think the tamron 150-600 comes in a Pentax mount.

welcome, also worth considering the DA*300 (with tele converter if you need extra reach.) both on my wish list. Even the humble DA55-300 works well when walking around in the bush -light & easy to handle and does quite well in terms of IQ.
cheers

Welcome from NZ.

Have you come across the lens reviews area on these forums yet? They can be pretty useful...
Sigma: Sigma 150-500mm F5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM Lens Reviews - Sigma Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database

I don't have this lens (I'm using a DA 55 -300 and sometimes an old Soligor 400mm) but wouldn't mind one!

Howdy from another Aussie used to be bushie
I like photoing similar to what you mention my main lens is pentax 55-300WR and also Sigma 70-300 macro great for the insects and flowers and also the birds.

Here is a link to my piccies you can see which lens I've used by the info button

Have to agree the pentax DA*300 would be a nice lens also like the sigma 150-500 but huge and heavy.

Welcome hope you share some of your shots

Welcome, and G'Day. I have the DA* 300 with the teleconverter, it works quite well. Haven't done a lot of bird photography because I suck at it, but it is a great combination. Here is my wife super moon shot, through a fair amount of hazy using the combo on the K30.

Welcome to the forum, is "Bushie" something the rest of us here should be concerned about, like is it contagious or will eat me or anything.

I'll let someone else answer that. Maybe you should just come for a visit and find out.

The bush is usually defined somewhere other than in the main city in the hinterlands well forested or even open landscape just somewhere not near high population density. A bushie a human that inhabits the bush but definately agree come visit but make sure you are careful of the drop bears.
