Just a quick hello...

Wanted to say hi to everyone here.

I just discovered the forums here when, a little over two years with my K-30 and the stock 18-55mm lens, I've begun looking into expanding my lens collection. So far I've dragged the K-30 to Niagara Falls; Bushkill Falls in Pennsylvania; Spearfish, Mt. Rushmore, and Custer State Park in South Dakota; as well as Yellowstone NP and the Grand Tetons NP. Needless to say, I've actually put the weather proofing to the test! Next it is off to Arches, Canyonlands, Bryce, Zion and the Grand Canyon - but not without a new lens or two first!

Thanks for all the great information everyone has collected here! I look forward to lots of reading, learning, and even more picture taking!

Those sound like some pretty great scenic trips! I would love to visit them sometime. Nature photography is always fun.

Welcome to the forums NikiAnne!

"Looking to expand my lens collection" sounds dangerously like a fledgling case of Lens Buying Addiction

If the weather sealing has been useful to you, the best available lenses are the DA*16-50 f2.8, and DA*50-135 f2.8. You pretty much cover everything you ever could want for travel with those two, and the best quality available in Pentax-land, but the bank account might not agree!!!!

Wow, that's some great traveling. I'm jealous!

You'll find many opinions regarding which lenses to get, though I certainly wouldn't naysay Poit's suggestions. If you have the money those are certainly worth pursuing.
