Hi!
I was looking for a nice and cozy forum to become a part of, and ended up here. To tell the truth, I am not too good on introductions, but I'll give it a try:
One of my clearest childhood memories is one of shooting with my father's old Pentax SLR. It was a my last day at kindergarden, and we had this goodbye gathering. The parents, and us children. A friend and I ran around trying to find something worth capturing. And in less than an hour more than 20 pictures where gone from my fathers film. Some of them did actually come out rather well. And no, he, my father, was not all that happy at all. And it took a while before I was permitted to use that camera as I pleased again.
Whenever, before and after this incident, I got my hands on a camera during my childhood I loved using it. I never gave it much second though though, but listened carefully to the advices my father gave me. Just simple stuff, really, but a child do not need much more than that. And after a while photography ended up being something I just did on vacations and family gatherings (like everyone else, I suppose). And whenever I could get my hands on, again, my fathers old equipment.
Three years ago I got my own digital compact camera. A silly simple Olympus-thigny, by the way, but it worked. And once again I had the opportunity to take pictures when I wanted. And so I did. I tried to remember some old tips and teachings, and suddenly it just became a habit. Like eating breakfast.
A year ago I started looking for a better option. I was then more used to olympus than anything else. And of pure pride I wanted to do this by self. Without the help of my father, or anyone else. So I started reading reviews...
Suddenly my father needs a new camera too, and he wanted to use his old lenses, and to help me out in my search as well.
Now I sit here with my beautiful K10d, and not too much knowledge. But I am learning, mostly by experience. To tell the truth, I do not feel like switching back to anything. Pentax was where I started to learn, and pentax will be here as I continue doing so.
- and come to think of it: I am a girl from Norway, who's turning 18 next week. Right now I am studying music, but a year from now that'll probably change a bit. We'll see...
Enjoy your day!
