Hi from Christchurch, New Zealand

Just recently started back into photography, have been a Pentax user since the Spotmatic came out, at the moment getting to grips with the K3.

Welcome aboard! The K-3 is a lot to get to grips with but it's well worth the effort. Of course, the basics are the same as when the Spotmatic ruled - get the exposure right and nail the focus.

Enjoy!

Welcome to the Forums. Seriously contemplating a K-3 myself. It seems to be a great camera.

Welcome to the forum, from just down the road.

I also have a K3 and I am really enjoying learning to use it - there is a lot of camera there.

There is a kiwi thread on this forum, and you would be more than welcome to join in.

Ross

Welcome! As Ross points out, the https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/43-gatherings-events-groups/41021-kiwi-pentaxians-553.html Kiwi Thread is used by us lot. Sometimes, the discussion veers well away from photography, but always seems to find it's way back!

Welcome aboard. Another longtime Pentax user here too. But with a Ricoh XRM interlude in the early 90's. IMHO my Spotmatic II is still the best SLR camera I have ever owned. My First SLR was a Mamiya Sekor 500DTL. When it's metering system broke the second time I went with a Spotmatic II. My latest purchases have been a K5 and K5-IIs. Quite frankly I still miss the needle in the side of the viewfinder. Best exposure checking aid ever.

I still use the 55mm f1.8 lens that came with the Spotmatic on my K5's. It is one awesome lens. Luckily I still have two Pentax made screw mount to K-Mount adapters.

I have just bought the K-500. The editing software SILKYPIX Developer Studio 3.0 LE, does not seem to have a 'save as' button that allows saving freely elsewhere. Problem could be with me though! How is the weather in Middle Earth, New Zealand?
