Hello Pentax world!

I was encouraged by my boyfriend who knows my desire for photography to join this forum so that it may help me in selecting which camera and lens(es) I should get as I never really had one of my own and also to learn how to utilize it well. Though my father is a nikon man, my boyfriend is an avid pentaxian and patiently he opened my eyes to see the beauty behind his pentax collection and now he's really excited that i'm taking a step toward my passion. I am currently on K5 iis. I'm excited to learn and to be a 'pentaxian' soon!

I wouldn't get too attached to his camera if I were you.

You should look into a used k-01 (pretty stylish, love mine), or a used k-30/50 for the view finder and wr.

While the k-5 IIs is a great camera, there's probably no reason to really consider it as a beginner.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes! I went ahead and got the k5iis (a few minutes ago <3!) due to the irresistible deal of $597 for the body, 64g memory, and battery grip. Though it may not be as stylish as the pentax K-01 I somewhat have an idea of what i wanna take pictures of and am hoping that I can explore more with MY! K5iis! <3<3!

Bwahah!! I actually have most of his lenses held hostage at my place.. ( He offered nicely so no harm done on them! ^-^) ..currently loving his DA15 1.4 and 50 1.7! (No worries kerrowdown.. Im still gonna give them back to him

).. I just need to borrow them for a while so i can get to know my k5iis and decide which lens to get for myself :"3 *waiting for good black friday deals!*
