New k50 in Washington

Hey everyone im Justin. I live near seattle,I'm 21 now and work the auto industry but I finaly got a dslr Ive always wanted. I havent shot since highschool when I used a k1000 and I really loved everything about it. I have had my k50 for three weeks or so now and I really love it. Im finding the whole experience rather overwhelming trying not to shoot in auto and I just gave light room a try last night and had a lot of fun.

Anyways feel free to check out my instagram @ Greenneck I mark most of my photos pentax and k50 when theyre not from my iphone. Every day I go out I tend to take over 300 pictures and Im not really sure how or where to show my work so any tips for me would be cool. Im working on navigating this site but there is an awful lot of information here.

Welcome aboard, Justin

There's lots of help and tips to be had in the forum, as well as within your K-50's manual. You can post pictures in the photo threads on the forum, as well as creating accounts at Flickr and 500px (free), or places like SmugMug. You'll get better constructive criticism in the forum than you will at places like Flickr and 500px, where they just give you "likes", and tell you your picture is fabulous -- lol. I'm also a Washington guy (Sumner) and have put over 13k on my K-50 since February. You'll probably find that you'll slow down as you get a better grasp of what you are trying to do with your photography. I used to be the same way with 300-400 shots per outing, but I've reduced that greatly as I've learned more about exposure, and have gained confidence that I got the shot the first time, instead of taking 5-6 to make sure.

Have fun!

The compromise is to post your photos to Flickr or some other site and link to the photos from the various discussions here. This approach is superior to attaching an image to a post (the forum software munges attachments) and a little better than uploading to a gallery here.

Welcome to the forum, it's a good job that computer storage is relatively cheap as you'll be needing more TBs at that rate.

Welcome. I spent the summer of 2013 in Nooksack. Lots of great things to photograph.
