Hello

Hi All,

Brian here from Florida. Recently moved from Alaska to Washington state. I have had my K-5 for about a year now, but I am recent to the forum here. Have been looking to upgrade my kit 18-55mm lens to something different. I like shooting outdoors and random things.... I am a total amateur, but wiling to learn.

Hi Brian, welcome to PentaxForums. That's a great landscape you got there, very understandable you enjoy shooting it.
And the second photo got such interesting shapes and light, thanks for sharing!

It's not a replacement, but for landscape you could look into adding an ultra-wide angle. There's a nice review comparing the three current ones:
Pentax DA 12-24mm vs Sigma and Tamron 10-24mm Comparison | PentaxForums.com Reviews
(the Tamron was my first addition to my kit lens )

Anyhow, have fun on the forums. Looking forward to see more of that scenery.

Thank you Undot for the warm welcome and kind remarks. I will hop on over to the lens reviews and check out your suggestions. I have been interested in a faster prime lens because I like shooting low light as well. I found a Yashica ML 50/2 for dirt cheap last week and I am looking into Riorico's mod or perhaps a PK+MM.? That will be another thread in the beginners/help forum though. Will post a link when I do. Anyways, thanks again for the hospitality.

Welcome, there's a great lens review section right here on the forum, which you might find helpful with your next lens selection.

Thanks Kerrowdown, there is quite an extensive review of lenses available @ Pentaxforums! I am slowly reviewing.

Hi Jean from France! I was checking out your review on your Yashica lens as well as your posts about the mod. process. If you could take a look at my link here: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/58-troubleshooting-beginner-help/276719-y...-f2-k-5-a.html it would be most helpful. Thanks!
