Finaly Swiched

Just ordered a Pentax K-3 with battery grip and a 18 to 135mm lens, been wanting a digital for about 10 years but just could not do it. I have been a long time Pentax user (1973 or about then) first one was a SP-500 plus, then an ES and then I got two LXs and a Pentax 6X7. Made enough off Photos to buy a large selections of good lenses and did not want to spend $20, 000 to $30,000 to buy new lenses so when I found the K-3 would let me use the film lenses and the price got right I pushed the buy button manly because it was getting hard to find film and get it developed here even though I have all 5 of my Pentax film cameras and do not plan on giving them up, Really want Pentax to come up with a digital back for the 6x7. Looking forward to the new adventure

Welcome to the Forum, Milton. Like you, it took me a very, very long time to finally go to digital. And all that old glass still works as intended.

Welcome to the forums! You will able to help a lot of us who haven't been shooting nearly as long as you have (and haven't made any money, like in my case)...

Welcome to the forums and the digital age. The K3 with a 18-135mm is a very fine way to start exploring it, so much joy to you.

But can one really spend that much money on glass?!
I think I should be thankful, that I missed the film era then.

It seems like one of Pentax' best moves, though, that they stayed true to their mount and kept it compatible. What a waste to demand something different just because there's a digital sensor now...

Yes you can really spend that much on glass, the 600mm 5.6 lens was just shy of 4K in Japan the UV filter was $120. oo the closes digital lens to it is almost 7K, and between the 5 Pentax film cameras I have over 15 lenses they ran me between 400 and 4000 each with at lease 5 of them being on the high side of 1200 most ran between 6 and 9 hundred. I bought the best I could get and the fastest even though I am a die hard member of the f 11 club. So that is why I was estimating what I quoted for replacing them with digital lenses.

Unless you buy a 560mm!

Welcome to PF. I believe you can use the 6x7 lens on your K3 as well.
