introducing myself - barham

Hello:
I am "barham", 74 year practicing trial judge in Meridian, Tx which is in Central Texas. I have a K50 and have had numerous 35mm Pentaxes over the years.
Other than introducing myself on this forum and hoping to learn something (even old judges can learn). I was wondering if someone could help me with the built in flash on my K50. It seems to me that I am experiencing overexposure with pictures taken less than 15 feet away. Is this normal, if so, how can adjust the flash. It seems ok at longer distances.
Thanks,
barham

HI barham and welcome.
The flash should have a setting option that will be available by pressing the flash indicator on the 4 way button when in shooting mode.
Once there press the lower of the the 4 way buttons to jump the display to the flash compensation setting.
Use the rear dial to set the flash at some slightly negative number.
Experiment till you find a setting that will work well in your typical distance.
It may be that you will need to change it up if you are shooting at different distances.

Thanks for the info. I never noticed the compensation before.

Welcome aboard!

Gary Fong makes a diffuser for the pop up flash. It works well, but is easy to lose. I lost part of mine, and have yet to buy a replacement.
