Which Lens Fits Which Mount

I've had a K1000 SLR since 1979 and 3 lenses that fit that mount. I would like to buy another Pentax, digital this time, that fits those lenses? If this is possible, which camera mount can I buy or is suggested. I'd hate to have to go out and buy new lenses when I already have what I need already.

I'm new to this forum, if anyone can guide me I would appreciate it. thanks

Your K1000 SLR lenses (K-mount bayonet) will fit all modern APS-C Pentax DSLRs and the K-01 mirrorless.

If the lens fits a K1000 it should fit any Pentax DSLR. Lenses with the 'A' setting will work with full automation (other than autofocus), lenses that don't have electrical contacts have to be stop-down metered.

All modern Pentax DSLRs support direct mounting of lenses that have a K bayonet, all of the lenses you can mount on your K1000 should mount on any Pentax Digital SLR.
There are differences in how you use them depending on the lens series, but they should work fine.

40 years later, Pentax is still using the same lens mount. So your old lenses will work on modern DSLRs, and many modern lenses will also work on film SLRs (the ones that can't be used will still fit, but won't have an aperture ring or won't cover the image circle).

4th echo to what Steve stated just to point out you all said the same thing.. all of your K mount lenses should connect and function with any current Pentax DSLR body.

I would recommend the Pentax K-50 as a great entry-level camera with plenty of advanced features and excellent image quality:

Welcome aboard, as all the replies have said, it's just one of the many joys of Pentax ownership... backwards lens compatibility.
