I am in the market for a new DSLR system and am seriously looking at the K50. I will be brand new to Sigma, coming from Sigma DSLR, previously on Fujifilm bridge cameras, and then Minolta SLRs back in the day. Hoping to learn a lot about Sigma and the K50. The K5 II is what really interests me, but having to startup from scratch on a budget, I think I want the K50 with a kit lens and get a fast prime for portraits.

TBH there is a deal on B&H for 596 you can get a K5iis
For 146 you can add the 35mm or 116$ the 50mm.
It comes with 64gb memory card and the battery grip. IMO totally worth it.

If you want ill sell you a perfect copy of the 18-135mm for 350USD. It is also very sharp which apparently is not the case for most copies of this lens.
Anyways, hope you enjoy pentax, I sure am deeply in love with it .
have fun! show us pictures when you have some

Welcome aboard. The biggest difference between the two is the top LCD on the K5 series. I use that a LOT outdoors to quickly confirm settings etc. It's something I would very much miss if I didn't have it.

If you were confident with manual settings back in your SLR days, Pentax has the right tools at your fingertips.

Welcome to the forum, plenty of good camera and lens reviews which may well help you with your decision.
