Hi all :)

I just wanted to say a quick Hello - I recently posted from my mobile phone on facebook to the forums and thought it was about time that I joined . I have a few pentax cameras with mt latest being a K-3 ( which I have only just ordered ) . My main camera has until its arrival been a K-5 S2 which I think the world of but having read all the posts about the k-3 I thought I'd lash out .

Welcome from another Australian Kieron.

I see from your profile you have the Sigma 150-500. How do you find it? Long lenses seem to be a constant subject for debate around here.

Hi Des - I love Big Bertha ( as my wife has called that lens ) - I wouldn't want to go near an airshow or airport without it - I use my 28-200 as my daily walk around lens . I never leave home without a camera.

I've got Bertha's older and smaller sibling, the 170-500. They both seem great value for the money. The superzoom is really handy too. My Tamron 18-250 was my only lens for 6 years and I have always loved its versatility and convenience. I found that I was using the very wide end and the very long end the most, so my next acquisitions were the 170-500 for birding and an ultrawide (Pentax DA 12-24). But it is a slippery slope once you go down that path, as you end up looking for numerous other niche lenses, and crave the high IQ of prime lenses (or short range zooms) for more of your photos. Then suddenly you are in the grip of the lens buying addiction. Beware!

Welcome! Wow, I envy you for having that 150-500! I have the Pentax 55-300, but find I want more "reaching" power!
