Greeting from a fellow South African, and welcome to a great reference site for all things Pentax and photography in general. There is something really special about Pentax, but someone needs to work on its brand presence in RSA.

I am but a humble salesman, but you could not be more correct, Pentax is very underrated and under-represented in Mzansi. I have this conversation with the powers-that-be and my fellow staff members regularly. The ONLY reason the guys at the other companies/stores push Canon and Nikon is the fact they get rebates for selling them. A customer I spoke to yesterday was very keen on buying an ultra high resolution camera and very surprised to see a Pentax medium format that not only met his image quality requirements but was also weather sealed and portable. The guys he had spoken to previously told him Pentax was dead. But, after the news regarding a FF sensor and a patent filed by Ricoh for a translucent mirror all I can say is; watch this space.....
