Hi everyone, I'm new to the forums. I bought a Pentax Q and how am looking for a bigger DSLR. Anyone has any recommendations for a beginner DSLR? Thanks.

Welcome to the Forum. For a dSLR start-up, the K-50 (and K-30) are perfect IMHO. The K-50 is a very slight rebadge of the K-30. Great IQ with excellent 16 Mp sensor. Weather resistance (WR). Solid body. Small colourful body. You cannot go wrong with the K-50/K-30 in my opinion.

See for example:

Hope that the suggestion will help you.

It does depend on how technical you want to be. Certainly a K30 or K50 would be a good choice, but so would a used K5 series camera. There's plenty of room for growth with each of these cameras.

Welcome! Well, a K-30 or 50 will certainly do the trick, but if your budget allows, go K-3.

Thanks for all the welcoming thoughts and input on what I should get. I've decided on getting a used K-r in the classified section from one of the members, I can't wait to play with it once it gets here. Thanks for all your help.

Welcome enjoy your new DSLR all I can suggest no matter what you get you will love it and know no better in comparison and the quality will be great no matter what. Only thing I can suggest is get one with weather resistant body then if your photography turns to outdoors you will be set as you are paying for WR lenses so may as well have the body to go with it.

Welcome!

Try a K-50 or K-5 to begin, or just skip to a K-3.
