New fan from Portugal

Hello,

My name is Paulo I'm from Portugal, a have a Canon 550D, but was disappointed with the image quality that I was getting from my KIT lenses, any real good lens is very, very pricey. Then remembered the great pictures that my father took with a pentax camera back in the 80s, then started looking and reading (and found this forum), and found out that it is possible to adapt a old manual prime lens to my canon.

This forum as given me another enthusiasm for taking photos with another quality.

So now I'm looking for some good lens to use with my Canon, first the 50mm takumar f1.4, and maybe a 135mm or a 200mm, looking for a fair deal, because the shipment to Portugal its not the cheapest.

Hope to continue to learn from you guys.

Paulo

Welcome to the forum, just don't tell us if your going to mutilate fine Pentax glass to suit your Canon.

They make all sorts of adapters for m42 lenses.

Well Kerrowdown, if the lens is as good as everybody says and writes, I will be changing my camera before I change the lens, and as Rimfiredude said, there are many adaptors for it.

That's good to hear, as many fine Pentax lenses have been mutilated oops sorry "modified" to suit Canon kit.

In truth the main thing is to enjoy your photography no matter what kit you use.

Obrigado, Jean Poitiers (thank you in Portuguese), I already bought a Pentax super Takumar 50mm f1.4, from USA, it should take about 3 weeks to arrive, so just in time for Christmas.... It should be possible to have some cool pictures soon.

I think an adapter suffices. Mutilation not necessary.

Yes Dominic VII, an adapter does the work, and with a chip in it provides focus confirmation. No need to do nothing to the lens.
