I am D5100 owner, but I want to by K-5. I think Pentax would be better system for me.

Hello Lauris welcome to Pentax Forums and when you get the K-5 welcome to the Pentax family. There are several here that shoot multiple systems .

Welcome to the Forums. We probably think Pentax would be a better system for you to - but we don't discriminate. Post some images soon whether they are D5100 or K-5.

Welcome, Lauris.

Out of curiosity, what attracts you to the K5 over the 5100? We all know why we chose the Pentax system, but it's always interesting to hear from potential converts.

Pentax has a lot to offer. More than just just great lenses, but backwards capability with great (cheap) old lenses, and most of all, the Forum!

Well, I think the most why I want to jump ship is because of Pentax comunity, here you have many from all around the world posting. I dont find the same in Nikon. And with Nikon you have discrimination. Lets say if I shoot with D5100 and i go to so e Nikon thread on flickr or forum I find that many Nikon shooters mocks me for using only D5100. I dont see the same at Pentax forums. One can use K-7 or K10D or what ever and no one would say that its cheap or garbage camera and push to upgrade to lets say K-3 or similar.
And also lenses, I find many lenses here in Belgium at pawn shops, garage sales. 90% of all are K mount or M42.

And if I make some misstakes I am deeply sorry about that, English is not my native language.

That is horrible! I am sorry to hear that. We here welcome all photographers and greatly discourage bashing. We even have a forum dedicated to other brands such as Nikon, Canon, and Sony. And you will often find responses very honest and unbiased; ie. if we think a K-3, cheap used K-x, or even a Nikon would better fit a user's needs, we say so.

Well my needs would best fit Pentax. I mean where else I can get weather resistant lens for price of Pentax kit lens?! And K-5 in general atracts me with level of weather sealing. Most of time I do manual focusing, and Pentax is paradise for MF, because of tons of old lenses I can get for cheap price.
I like to go for night walks with my tripod, so camera is 100% on tripod if I decide to make shot, and its long exposure (few seconds to few minutes), so AF for me is not so important. It would not do much at those levens of light (or dark I should say). Why K-5?! Because its the best I can afford at the moment.

Your reasoning is much the same as the rest of us here. Old glass has a lot of allure, too.

Your English is great.
