New Pentax Shooter

Hi everyone,

Just thought I would say high and introduce myself. I have just dumped all my Nikon gear and switched to Pentax! So far so good I'm really appreciating how great these cameras really are. I am mainly interested in Macro and as such have just bought the brilliant 100mm WR macro. I also have the incredibly sharp 70-200 F2.8 Tamron and the 18 - 135 kit lens. I am really impressed with how solidly built these things are.

Also I have had a problem recently with the focusing plate getting dust stuck behind it.... I have taken it off and cleaned it just with a manual air blower however I still have a smudge. Has anyone had these issues?

Regards,

Chris

The focusing screen? Those can be hard to clean. Most recommend distilled water and a lint-free cloth, however I would be too nervous to wipe it myself. They can be very prone to smudging and clouding. Hopefully someone else can offer better advice.

On the focusing screen or on the sensor behind the mirror? If on the mirror you'll have to do the mirror lock-up and see if you can use your blower to remove the dust.
Beyond that, it gets tricky.

Welcome to the forum, for things that lurk within the camera... I let the experts in the repair shops deal with.
