Hi from Norway
Welcome to the forum, Kirk Douglas starred in a cracking movie set in your part of the world "The Heroes of Telemark", which I understand to be a true story.

If I remember correctly, that movie took quite a few liberties as to the real story, but it was an enjoyable one nonetheless :P

Well, what is it the Muricans use to say - "based on a true story"?

The real story was more impressive IMO... And the original Norwegian movie far better! No dashing Douglas in there, though

I thought that might be the case.

Anyway I'm still waiting... for the whole truth and nothing but the truth re "The Heroes of Telemark", even the ferries in that image look similar to the one from the film.

Oh well, you can find the information released for a broader audience than just the Weegies (of any kind) here - and a less dry version here.

The sabotage involved quite a bit of time during the winter on the Hardangervidda plateau, which is such a godforsaken place that Roald Amundsen almost died trying to cross it (Although when I skied across it, we were fine: http://mag.audubon.org/articles/travel/snow-patrol). Also, Rjukan, where the heavy water plant is located, is COLD. I think having experienced the places it involves makes the idea of sneaking around with skis and rifles to sabotage nazis badass in a way that just can't be conveyed on film.
