Hello world! Somebody stop me

Greetings!

This forum has been an immense source of great info for me, so here goes...

6 months ago I thought it was about time to move from my point-and-shoot (Kodak) to a DSLR. Did my research and figured Pentax would be the way to go - it just seemed to be the best value proposition vis-a-vis Canonikon. I was only going to dip my toes to see where I wanted to go.

Well, next thing you know I am down a rabbit hole. I now have a K-50 and a K-3 (supposedly one for me and one my wife, at least that's what I told her...and told myself). Got the usual kit lenses (18-55 and 50-200). And then got the cheapo Tamron (70-300). And the thirst was unquenchable so got a Sigma 18-250. Well, and then it was only a question of 'why not?' so got the 50mm Macro (was on sale on Pentax web store for $310) and a 35mm prime (also on sale for at B&H).

And then I discovered eBay. Don't really know what hit me but I now have about 6-8 manual focus lenses ranging from $20 to $60...mostly primes.

Is this normal????

Cheers.

Absolutely.
I congratulate you on showing such control and restraint in dealing with your LBA/CBA.

Merry Christmas

Welcome to Pentax and Pentax Forums!

Yes, it's normal. You're in good company.

Seriously, though, the reason for having a camera with interchangeable lenses is to be able to tailor your kit to your shooting style. Enjoy!

Lens Buying Addiction = LBA
As in: "The patient is showing all the signs of a moderate case of LBA."

Welcome aboard, abandon hope and all that!

Welcome! I believe you should be able to find a thread somewhere entitled LBA Anonymous. If you can't it may be time to start one.

Alright if you're well heeled enough to afford LBA. Personally that bug has never bitten me. I did go through a stage of PnSBA, I'm cured now though

Sorry if you came looking for normal people, other than myself there are not many

Enjoy the ones you have now and worry about catching up the guy with fifty 50mm lenses later.

Doctor 2: "Yes, I concur. Should we try that experimental procedure?"

Doctor 1: "Yes, I think it's our only hope. But it's not a miracle cure."

Doctor 2: "So, let's start with a single dose of FA 31. If the patient responds well, we'll up the dose and try a DA* 300. But that's a long shot."

Stay tuned for the next episode...

LBA is only out of control once you start buying binoculars.

That's a rather high threshold.

Congratulations on a good beginning. You will reach the zenith when you can bring home an A*135 or A*200 macro and tell Mrs. realitarian (with a straight face) that they're just 30 year-old used lenses you wanted try out before they go to the big lens graveyard in the sky.

Nope, not normal at all. 6 months and you ONLY have 6-8 lenses??? You are definitely LBA repressed.
I think i had around 25 by the same stage, and I'm perfectly normal, just ask my shrink...

Welcome to LBA land The symptoms fade with time and a cupboard full of lenses, but there is no actual cure.

Stop you? When you're obviously having so much fun? I wouldn't dream of it.
