Hello from Australia

I'm a graphic designer from Australia and have been into film photography (99% hobby) for about 30 years. Mainly shoot B&W and have a darkroom in the garage with a Leica V35 for 35mm and a DeVere 504 for larger formats (but mainly shoot 35mm). I have an MX and just sold my Leica M2 to fund an LX kit (my all-time dream SLR which just arrived a couple of days ago). Unfortunately the LX focussing is off - no doubt I'll be posting in the forum soon with advice for DIY fixes...

Looking forward to learning more about Pentax. Currently have the 50 f1.7 and 100 f2.8. My partner shoots with a K1000 and a 28mm and she's actually just finished her degree in photography with 1st class honours so I have someone close to learn from too :-)

In case anyone cares, my website is at davidwaugh.net

Happy Christmas to everyone and I look forward to chatting on the forum. I will have LOADS of questions! Thanks.

Firefox on LinuxMint goes straight there, no need for dangerous announcements

You certainly have some interesting images.

Interesting, I use firefox too on a macbook ... it probably comes down to the 'protection' you use.

Sorry to all for the alarming image. However, I think this is the first time I have ever got this message when browsing - so it was kind of alarming for me and I suspect David as well.

Anyway, calling it how I see it. Perhaps a PM next time - my bad if that is the general consensus.

Regards

There is virtually no need for anti-virus protection on Linux, windows viruses and the like can not execute. There are a few server type exploits in the Linux world , but not worthy of a mention. So my protection is using a far more secure system like LinuxMint

Welcome to the forum. I see you are in Armidale (your website loads ok here) - it's a nice spot. My daughter is doing her medical degree with UNE.

I do like your pics.

Thanks everyone. Appreciate the warning Wild Mark, but the website passes all the security tests I've tried tonight, so not sure what happened for you. Apologies mate. Happy shooting over Christmas everyone.

Hey David - no apologies needed - just letting you know what happened.

Silly virus software - I shouldn't pay any attention to it as a mac user

merry Christmas to you too. By the way - love the MX and LX great cameras - currently getting a couple minty's CLA'ed and plan to shoot my K series collection.

Cheers

Thanks - I might investigate

I am required to have the software for work purposes (remote logging on to a server somewhere in the cloud). Personally I prefer to not have it.
