New member from Finland

Greetings,

Forum newbie, longtime lurker and Pentax user since K10D and digital era. I currently have Pentax K-5 and several primes to shoot with. I've been reading this forum every now and then and thought I would finally contribute as well.

Moi!

Good to see another Pentaxian from Finland. There is a group here for Finnish Pentaxians, I don't contribute much since Finnish isn't my mother tongue, but perhaps you would want to join it!

From Espoo, welcome!

Welcome aboard. If the Finns would make cameras and lenses that shoot as well as their rifles, you could dominate the world of photography. A Finish military compass I picked up at a gun show a few years ago.

Hehe, just about every man in Finland is very familiar with that thing... It has been part of infantrymens equipment kit for decades. And still is, I believe.

Welcome to a fellow Northerner. There's already too many here who think that if you head out at 10 degrees Celcius, your limbs will freeze and fall off.

Well, they will. That's why I refuse to go outside this time of year

Welcome! My great-great grandmother was from Norway, and I have always wanted to visit (same area of the globe as you, I believe). Maybe that is why I was attracted to the Pentax K-50's ability to shoot in sub-0 Celsius temps (all the Nikons and Canons anywhere near my price range could not!). I imagine there are other precautions one must take, but to get some amazing winter shots, the equipment has to be hardcore as well. :-) Can't wait to see some photos!

Thank you for all the greetings! I joined the group of Finnish Pentaxians as well. By the way, nice compass you have, gaweidert.

When it comes to Finland...on monday, it was promising -18 °C (still have my limbs and yes, the K-5 keeps going), but now it's continuously raining and rather unpleasant 0 °C. So instead of taking photos, I'm editing and browsing old photos. This one is not special, but at least it is winterish and from Northland (in this case, Hetta in the Finnish part of Lapland). Taken with K10D and SMC Pentax-DA 18-250mm F3.5-6.3.

Happy New Year 2015!
