Hello everyone

My name is Stephen, I'm a new user to this site.....can't understand why I have never discovered it before but it looks like everything I need to know about all things Pentax is right here.

I'm sat here waiting on the arrival of my Pentax K5 II, the postman has ignored me again today and it looks like it's going to be Monday now (when I am back at work - looks like I'll have to pull a sickie!). A late Xmas present to myself. This will be my 3rd Pentax, my first being the *ist DL2 a camera I loved but I had an unfortunate accident with it...it was round my neck when I fell in the river and it drowned. Two rules I have learned from this, always have your camera equipment insured, and secondly always carry spare clothes when out in the wild so you don't have to drive home in soggy underpants!
I bought myself the excellent K200D which I love and have had for 6 years now, I have taken some of my best photos with this but it is time for an upgrade now, considering that I don't consider myself a beginner anymore....can't understand why the K200D is regarded as a beginner's camera it has many advanced features on it. Anyway I did shoot on 35mm for many years but became a born again photographer in 2004 when I became a digital photographer! I haven't traded in my K200D, iI don't want to part with it, it doesn't have many faults, could do with a higher iso and better focussing in low light but apart from that it's as tough as old boots. I once dropped it down a flight of stairs whilst it was attached to my tripod (accidently) and it survived perfectly with only two small scuff marks on the casing....my heart was in my mouth!!

Welcome to the forum, you sound like a cameras worst owner nightmare.

Enjoy the K5II once it arrives.
