Hi from Down Under

Hi everyone,

I've mostly been a lurker around these parts but thought I'd intro myself since I'm looking to step up my photography skills, whilst maintaining my limited fishing & golfing skills :P

I'm a proud owner of a K-r and a handful of cheaper lenses but will soon look to drop some coin on a K-3, faster lenses and a Metz.

I know it's not the equipment holding me back but you have to admit that it's fun buying new gear!

Cheers,
Dan

Welcome Dan.

It's too much fun buying new gear. You have to believe that new clubs will lower your golf score, new rods will catch more fish and a new camera and lenses will take better photos.

Welcome aboard! Very few of us are held back by the equipment, but that doesn't stop us from buying more

Welcome to the forum, the Metz may now harder to get as the manufacturer has filed for insolvency.

Thanks all for the welcome! Between my post the other day and now I have purchased a used K-5 and a Tamron 17-50 / 2.8 😝

Now to give some thought to the best option for an external flash to throw on the K-5 at upcoming weddings and parties!

The K-5 and the Tammy, that is a good combo, I like mine. Flash, the one I'd go for is Metz Mecablitz 52 AF-1 TTL Metz Mecablitz 52 AF-1 TTL Touchscreen Shoe Mount Flash - Canon | DigiDIRECT Australia
I have an older Metz 32 and manually it does a good job, that 52 will come in Pentax mount and I think does P-TTL (not sure if K-5 P-TTL is that good, worth asking about) anyway maybe ask at Flashes, Lighting, and Studio - PentaxForums.com There is probably a thread on it somewhere there.
