Hello from Oregon

Lurking for awhile, learning from all the great wisdom here, time to come out of the shadows

Started photograhy in 1982 with a Olympus OM10 while in the US Coast Guard station on a High Endurance Cutter out of Honolulu, HI. Took great pictures there and in Alaska while doing patrols, a wonderful experience.
After leaving to USCG, getting married (1st time) having a daughter, building a career, photography took a backseat. Wasn't until 2005 I started messing with digital point & shoots, the Canon SX20 Powershot was the one that really got me interested again. A little over a year ago I became interested in Pentax because of the weather sealing since my fiance (now wife) & I spent so much time outdoors, roaming the woods & shooting our longbows it only made since with wet climate we live in. So a year ago right before our wedding, we bought a K-50 w/18-135mm instead of hiring a photographer. Had one of our friends use it, pictures turned out great - quite the camera.
Now a year later, with 3 more lenses: D FA 100mm 2.8 Macro WR, HD DA 4-5.8 55-300mm WR & a D FA 2.8 50mm Macro, photography has become a passion for us next to our love of the outdoors, archery & our cockatoos. So we don't to share a camera anymore, I ordered a K-3 for B&H yesterday

Here's pictures from the last couple weeks, thank you for forum and your knowledge.

I had an umbrella cockatoo for many years. Wish I had more pictures of him. My climate isn't as wet as yours, but I have to be outside daily and the WR is a most awesome feature. Welcome to the forums!

Thanks everyone for the welcome

Kath - yes, Oregon is a very beautiful & diverse place. have lived here most of my life and after 52yrs still haven't seen it all - live in Scappoose btw.

Jono - Cockatoos are a joy.....but do require a lot of work & patience. The smaller one is a Goffins, the other is a Citron-Bareeyed cross - just like having kids that don't grow up....or move out Yes, WR is great, just wish more primes had it, use the D FA 100mm the most because of it and also being such a great lens.

Like terminal two year olds! I have the FA 100 that has the most beautiful color rendering and sharpness. Also, not WR.
