Quick intro from Au

Gday,

Ive been borrowing family members cameras on and off for a while now and have decided its time to get my own dSLR..
I consider myself a general nature photography including wildlife, landscapes and macro.. Recently I have become interested in astro photography too.

I've researching various bodies the K3 seems to fit my needs and budget.. I just need to establish what lens I should purchase..

Once I get the gear I look forward to posting some of my photo's and learning from fellow members..

G'day Tony, welcome to PF.
You have come to the right place to learn and get lens info.
The K3 is a GREAT camera, you could not have chosen a better one, IMO.
You will also find lots of fellow Aussies on this site, so enjoy.

G'day mate and welome to the forum

K-3 sounds great, and once you get into the Pentax world you'll find there is a huge variety of lenses available to fulfil your image requirements.

So much here depends on what sort of photographer you do, have a look back and see which lens you've taken most of your images on and start out with one of those.

Guilt got the better of me as I was using the cameras a lot.

Ive got a fair idea what I need and have posted in the lens discussion forum... Like many i would love some of the DA* zooms but have concerns about the SDM's so I'm looking at alternatives.

So I wasn't that far off the mark then.

Perfect choice of body.

For your preferred style, DA*16-50, DA*60-250 and DFA100WR would make a killer all-weather three lens kit. Don't be surprised if you get the itch for a couple of fast primes though

I have no idea about astrophotography, but there is an area of the forum dedicated to it.
