Greetings from a Pretty Average Part of California

Hello Pentaxians. This will be my first post here. I have read the forum for some time now, especially the reviews section. It has been of great help in preventing me from wasting even more of my money on additional 50mm primes I will never touch again, and I now must repay my debt to the community and review some lenses myself.

I currently own a Pentax K-5II, a Pentax MX, and a Spotmatic SPII. I will likely be getting a Sony a7 to replace the K-5 soon, as I want that full-frame FOV goodness for legacy glass. I use film for that at the moment, but sometimes you just want instant results.

I don't really have any photography specialty; I just take pictures when I see them. I'll probably post some eventually.

Welcome, even though you have been lurking for awhile.

"Average part of California." More "average" than Fresno, where I am located? ;-)

Full frame Pentax is just around the corner.

Greetings from a pretty cold part of Illinois!

Don't get rid of the K5 right away, not until you've decided whether the Sony is really going to work for you.

I know that Pentax/Ricoh is finally making a FF camera, but I also have a thing for Olympus, Fuji, Nikon, and Minolta lenses. It would either be impossible or too expensive to mount-convert all of them. I'm also a technophile so mirrorless is inherently appealing to me. I just wish the a7ii had Pentax-quality weather sealing and a WQXGA viewfinder with a refresh rate of >90hz, but there is only so much you can do with a half-inch screen

Well, by "average" I mean "absolutely uninteresting in every possible way". Other than the fact that we have really low crime rates for whatever reason. Mission Viejo is pretty boring, as is most of Orange County.

Hi! I won't even be able to get rid of it, not if I keep buying all these old lenses!

Very true - if you don't count the beach, Lyon air museum, Knott's Berry Farm, Dizzyland, Mission San Juan Capistrano, Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum, Balboa Island and/or ferry, Bowers Museum of Cultural Art, Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, Crevier Car museum/showroom, International Surfing Museum, or Vans Skatepark at the Block at Orange, or a bazillion parks of all varieties :-)

Welcome to the forums!
