Macro Enthusiast Planning to Purchase K-3

I love macro photography. I currently own a Canon SX40 HS, Canon speedlite 430EX II, and a Raynox 250. In spite of my camera knowledge being a bit beyond beginner, I was fortunate enough to get surprisingly good results with this combination. I am planning on purchasing a Pentax K-3. I'm very interested to see what I can do with the K-3's capabilities. I would very much appreciate help expanding my knowledge of macro photography. Right now I need help looking at lighting options.

Thank you for this forum and community!

Macro Photography - PentaxForums.com

We have a relatively new forum here for just this subject! Plus there's a forum for flash and lighting.

Welcome!

Welcome! The Raynox 250 should serve you well on the K-3 also, although it will vignette on some lenses.

Hello Walter,

I too love macro and shoot macro almost exclusively with the K-3. I use an off camera flash with cheap triggers for lighting. It's manual flash, but it's fairly easy when doing macro. I shoot with a 1:1 macro lens, which I sometimes couple with the Raynox 250 and/or extension tubes.
The K-3 is a very capable macro shooter when used with the right lenses and accessories. I was shooting macro with a K-5 IIs and K-01 a couple years back. My main reason for upgrading to the K-3 was because of macro photography. The megapixel bump affords me more latitude while cropping macro shots.

You can take a look at some of my stuff if you'd like...

Many of them are pseudo macro, but most of them were taken with the set up I described to you.

Welcome to the forum.

As others have already said... have a look at the dedicated macro section of the forum, hopefully there will be something of interest for you there.
