Hi i'm a new K-x user from Uruguay

Hello,
i am a photography enthusiast from Uruguay, South America. Was kind of a Canon-fan-boy until last year, when i read about the Pentax System. I didn't knew it existed a manufacturer that cared so much about the users!!! It was a dream-made-true, so i recently got a Pentax K-x with the 18-55mm DAL and a Sigma 50-200 HSM f4-5.6, and last month bought some manual lenses: Pentax SMC-M 50mm f1.7, a Reflexar 135mm f3.5 Preset (identical to a Takumar) and a Pentacon Auto 135mm f2.8.
I love using manual focus, and i got into extracting the split-prism focusing screen from my old Canon T60 (35mm film) and cutting/adapting it to fit the Pentax K-x. I got it done quite succesfully, still got to do some micro-calibration to get it perfect, but the in-camera focus confirm is just enough. Unlike most K-x users, I'm perfectly satisfied with the camera not having focus point indicators on the viewfinder, as i have tried other DSLRs (like Nikon D40x) whit that feature but didn't quite frequently focused on the point it marked. Besides i'm used to center-focus and reframing.
I want to thank you the people in this forum, because i've learned a lot reading from you and your lens reviews.
Regards from Uruguay!

Welcome from Chicago!
You'll find plenty in the Pentax system for a technical photographer - you can get as geeky as you want!

Welcome! I'm sure members would be interested if you would care to share the process of doing this transition; very clever!

Welcome to the forum! I love my k-x. I don't miss those focus points in the view finder - maybe because I've never had them. Hope to see some pictures from you soon!
