12 Takumar Lenses but no Pentax Body...?

About a year and half ago I discovered classic screw threaded Takumar lenses and how well they suited my Sony E-mount equipment. Since then I have accrued the mentioned 12 lenses alongside a few Zeiss/Contax lenses and a few more old Rokkor gems.

I mostly use these on a Sony Alpha A7R body, but also have a Sony NEX 5N which turns the old 55mm & 58mm focal length lenses into beautiful portrait lenses - when shooting wide open (or slightly stopped down to f2.8/f4) the bokeh of some of these old classics is gorgeous.

I put most of my images on Flickr if any member is interested.

I am not sure what modern Pentax body to add to my kit so that I can use these old lenses. I understand that there are no Full-Frame bodies in the Pentax lineup, but that is not critical.

It looks like you are putting that 55 to good use, nice gallery. Any Pentax digital SLR can use the lenses if you add an adapter. You could get into a new K-50 for $367, that's a steal. The full frame DSLR will debut later this year. And full frame film Spotmatics are out there on the used markets, as are all of the k-mount film cameras which can use the Taks with that same adapter.

Welcome from Iowa!
What ramseybuckeye said.
How is the functionality of the Sony cameras? Is there something you are looking for that's not offered on your current models?

with a modern pentax camera, you'd have to use an ovf to focus that old glass, instead of the evf on the a7r.

i think that pentax did make a mirrorless camera called the "q", but you have to buy the evf seperately? and the camera is only 16mp, like your nex5?

I currently use the Taks on K3 and am impressed.

According to announcements a FF is on the way - later this year. That would have the advantage of making the FoV of the wide angles (particularly) as wide as they were designed to be. Might pay to keep the powder dry so you might be able to afford to be an early adopter of the FF when it appears.

I recently purchased a Pentax K50 (hobby photographer) and one of the main reasons was the ability to use my old lenses. I have all screwmount Takamur and Tamron as well as a Royal teleconverter. Purchased the correct adapter ($95 Cdn $50 USD) and changed the settings as outlined in this forum - and they work wonderfully. Getting the correct adapter is key. Good luck!

Which adapter did you purchase, I have Fotodiox and some others, which are way cheaper than $95, But I'd happily pay that much for a good one that helps the camera focus.

The K Mount Adapter part # 30120 - I got it at McBain Camera because it was in town. The US price would have included shipping......but they have it at BHPhoto.
