Hal55 - new member and K50 questions

I've recently joined this forum and admit that I don't own any current production Pentax gear, I am however a big fan of vintage Ricoh Rikenon glass and a Ricoh 28-100 F4 is my favourite walk around lens. I also own a lovely 50mm Rikenon f1.2, a 35-70 and a Supertak 135mm f2.5. All lovely lenses and all, with the exception of the 35-70, probably as good as glass of that era gets, and still highly competitive today. These are mounted, via adapters, on a Canon 450D which has been a wonderful camera but is now showing it's age.
I'm not impressed by current Canon stock which flatly looks cheap. The K50 on the other hand has a host of features I want, IBIS, focus peaking, weather sealing, much more useable ISO range and the list goes on. It seems to be currently available at really good prices as a run out model and I've seen as little a $415 Australian on Ebay, new in box and free postage from Taiwan. The new model (KLS-2?) looks a great further update with wifi and an articulated screen BUT how much better in day to day shooting is it? There's a big jump in price to it which I'm a bit reluctant to go to. I typically shoot in Raw and like to print out my photos, so I'm not shooting for Facebook only.
I jokingly call myself a semiprofessionalamateur photographer, although a few months ago I had a 8 page, 9 photo and 1500 word piece published in a national camera magazine here in Australia and was invited by the Editor to submit further articles. I intend taking him up on that! Particularly when he finally pays me the several hundred dollars I'm still owed.
So, is the K50 the right camera for me, how well does focus peaking work with vintage glass, and will using a wifi enabled SD card give me an effective wireless solution to my PC and laptop? All advice very much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum, for me it's not so much about how the kit looks... but how good are the images it captures.

Granted, but the 450D is a lovely solid piece of equipment while the current range looks like it's made of cheap plastic. I've tried to get enthused about the current Canon lineup, but can't. The "bang for buck" equation with the Pentax range is also just way better.
Is the K50 still in production? Just trying to get an idea of how much longer they will be available new. It's really shaping up to be my next camera, and I'm hoping my vintage Ricoh/Pentax lenses will fit without an adapter,

Thanks for the welcome,

Hal55

Yes as far as we know the k50 isn't slated for replacement yet.
The legacy lenses will work without an adapter unless they are screw mount (m42) lenses. These well require an adapter but one without glass.

Welcome aboard.

I have owned two Ricoh XRM's for something like 24 years or so now. They were/are very good cameras. I only have one Ricoh lens and that is a Rikonon P 50mm f2.0 that came with one of them. It is almost a pancake lens it is so thin and the images from it are great.

Welcome to the forum! The K-50 is a very good camera. The live view should work will with your manual focus lenses - I know my K-3 does.

And no, there's not a lot of difference in image quality between K-50 and K-S2. I still think that the sensor in the K-50 is one of the best out there.

Hard to say how much longer it will be in production, but even if it should be discontinued it won't be hard to find them second hand.

Thank you, keeping a close eye on prices and combos with lenses and will hopefully get one soon when there is a gap between income and bills.,
