Hello from San Diego!

Hi All,
A friend at work convinced me to switch from my Canon Rebel XSI to a Pentax K-5. So I am now a part of the party! I'm hoping to learn a lot here and hopefully post some good shots with some good lenses. Any suggestions for good inexpensive lenses I should start off with? I'd like to be able to shoot low light if needed (like concerts with no flash) as well as outdoors and in nature.

Welcome to pentax land. Any of the 1.4 50's will give a good start.

Welcome to the forum! There are lots of older manual focus lenses available here in the MarketPlace and elsewhere. The SMC M 50mm f/1.7s are very sharp, cheap, and plentiful. The A series lenses are more convenient because you can set the aperture using the rear dial. Here's an example for an A 50mm f/1.4. Be aware that LBA sets in once you start down this road. Bwahaahaa.

Welcome! Depending what is considered inexpensive but for AF primes it's hard to beat both plastic fantastic DA35 F2.4 or DA50 F1.8. With these two you get way more than what you pay for (IMO).

Thank you all for your comments and help. I am very excited about getting started with my K-5. Although it's not here in the mail yet, it will be soon and I'm currently shopping for lenses
