I am sick... I can't count my lenses and bodies anymore.. please help

I have been reading the forum for a long time.. I think since 2007 which is when I first bought my K100D + 18-55 bundle kit from Circuit City for something like 500 then a FA 50 f/1.4 from BuyDig (for 199 then 20 dollar rebate).
Then I realized 50mm was too long for indoor baby shots (my son was born in 2007) so I had to buy a Sigma 30mm 1.4....
Then I did not like sigma results being less saturated than my 50mm (I had/knew no picture editing software then) so I bought a FA 35mm f/2
Then I realized my longest reach was only 55mm so I had to add a FAJ 75-300, new from Adorama...
Then I did not like how soft my first long zoom lens was so I bought a F70-210 from ebay... which was better but I wanted even sharper so I had to shop on ebay for a F 135mm... I still remember the moment I won the auction..
Then I realized (and learned) that the 135 mm will be great on a film body.
It had to be a *ist film body because I wanted the body control to be similar to the K100d body.. I had to spend 120 for the body and something like 30-40 for the battery pack...
Then I did not like how it was flimsy and sloppy - for example when I locked auto focusing with half shutter button then when apply a full button it tried to focus again at wherever the assigned focusing point was aiming at...
So I had to have anothier one.. I found a nice ZX-5 (by the way I loved film photography... I liked the full frame experience to be precise)
and so on and so one... (at some point I had to buy a used Canon 5D and a 135mm F/2.... but I changed my mind and sold them..)

at some point I accidentally obtained a K1000 SE (I found at a garage sale.. with a M 50mm f/2 attached to it)
Then I liked how the M lense focus in my fingers.. My manual lens LBA started then,,, Now I have countless 50mm lenses including A50mm f/1.2/ F 50mm macro, A 50mm macro, Cosina 50mm f/1.2 etc etc... I have all the 3 FA limited lenses of course.... I have a K 28mm F/2 too.. I also have a K 80-210 F/3.5... K 35/3.5 85/1.8 105/2.8 120/2.8 135/2.5 200/4.0...
Bodies? I have 2 super programs 1 LX 2 KM 1 K1000 1 KX 2 MX 1 MEsuper 2 ZX-L 1 ist 1 MZ-s and more...
Am I a billionare? of course not.. I am a mechanical engineer with a PhD but I barely make 6 digits a year (my wife is a full time mom for 2 boys) which means I can't afford all these by any means...
Please help me guys... I am really sick..

Welcome to the forum, I wouldn't worry unduly, there are a few folk here that make your extensive collection look like a starter kit.

You've definitely got GAS*. When I found this forum it wasn't long before I had GAS also. I have also read numerous threads in the forum of other people developing GAS.

I do not believe that there is any kind of treatment that has been found to work for everybody. Some have mentioned that draining their bank and savings accounts will cure, or at least temporarily reduce the symptoms of GAS. Some never recover.

While generally not fatal, there have been rumors and innuendo floating around on sites such as this one for years, that a few unlucky souls were buried alive by the very things which triggered their GAS. Also it's been mentioned that spouses or other loved ones often hold the quickest cure. But that is only a rumor.

I hope you are able to find what works for you. I will keep you in my thoughts. Good Luck!

Do you take pictures with all that stuff? If so, don't sweat it.

Welcome. Be glad you did not venture into a Sony A7 yet. So much glass, so many adapters.

You have 14 film bodies (if I counted correctly and you are honest: and at GASaholics you have to be honest!) At least you have started well in admitting you need help - that's the same as admitting you have a problem. How many do you use? All of them? If so you don't have a problem. Do you have storage space for them all? If so you don't have a problem. Does the domestic engineer complain about the accumulated stuff? If not you don't have a problem.
Are you feeding and clothing your family sufficiently without a growing debt? If so you don't have a problem.
Just enjoy your stuff and stop whining!

Yeah, and use scientific notation when counting, so the number is more manageable.

2 posts in 7 years and both within an hour, don't over do it.

Welcome.

As others have said buying glass is addictive.

Show us some of your photos too.

Piker! It is a sickness, just wait until you grow to appreciate other manufacturers; that's when things really start to get interesting !!!

I stopped caring about how much I have. Slowly, I think this attitude has become my cure ..... I crave gear less and less now.

I have the similar background like you. My suggestion is to focus on the actual usage instead of buying things in waste. if you have fa 31, you do not need to buy/keep 28 or 35. If you have fa 77, no need to keep 85/1.8. If you have a lot of macro lenses, just keep the best... The basic idea is for real photography, you can only shot using one lens... LBA is not a good thing unless you buy lenses rationally.

Over the past 35 years my wife has filled our house with old furniture, books, framed lithographs and prints, fine brass and china decorative items, needle-pointed pillows and cushions, quilts, books, art, books, silver spoons, Persian rugs, books, lamps, and books. Everything single thing is used by us or openly displayed.

Last night we went to a huge charity Print Show - you know, sort of like a large camera swap meet. One exhibitor had a massive set-up of leather-bound First Editions - she looked at an untouched boxed set of collected Tennyson. $9,575!!!

We had a talk about over-the-top collecting, which she and I understand but don't do.

I have a few camera bodies and lenses in my closet. When I have had something that I haven't used in a couple years, I (grudgingly) let someone else have it - for a price. One or two I should have kept - K50/1.2 for instance - but at least I'll always know I had them.
