coming at from beautiful Oregon

hi nice to meet you all my name for here will be OreganicPhotography I shoot with a Pentax K3 and I love it. I shoot a variety of things and am always looking to get better I've had my pentax k3 for about 4 months ago or so and before that I shot and learned with a Sony Hx400v it was a great beginning camera helped me get into manual mode. I've been doing photography for the past year and a half or so and plan to continue can't wait for the pentax full frame to drop! Also I only have the kit lens 18-135 mm myou first investment has to be in a good macro lens I was thinking a 50mm macro would be a good choice considering the crop sensor let me know what you guys think?

Welcome to the clubhouse!
My brother is in Oregon, we went into the volcanic mountains last time I was there. Beautiful territory.

Macro - depends on what you want to do. If insects, look for a longer lens like 100mm. If still life etc. then shorter is good - and 50mm is the classic compromise.

The 18-135 will serve you well if you're outdoorsy it's great.

Welcome aboard. I was in your beautiful state in 1991 during our Great Western Family Vacation. Crossed the state on route 20 from Idaho to Bend. Headed to Crater Lake. Drove up the entire coast. My wife's best friend is from Fossil.

Very nice!

If you post to places like Flickr you can get the BB code directly from there, then just paste in the text field.

It's not quite as intuitive as it used to be. There are tutorials on Flickr, though, if you look for them.
On your image you'll see a couple overlaid icons low right. One is for download, one for sharing (which is what you want) and one is, I think, fullscreen?

For that macro lens... Tamron 90, Sigma 70, Pentax DFA 100 WR, or SIgma 105 are all popular choices. I've tried to like the shorter macros, but they just don't work for me. But there are lots of sample pictures in the lens reviews etc.

Thanks the only thing I was thinking of the shorter focal length for was so I had more of a shutter speed range to play with I'll look at the sigma 70mm though thank you

I own the Sigma 70 macro, it's a really nice lens but it's big. The only time I don't like it is when I'm short of space in my camera bag, then i wish I had the 50.
